Sex coaching in Amsterdam

What is sexological bodywork

In my practice I work with a range of coaching, touch, breath work, body-focussed exercises, communication, massage, and meditation techniques. Together we will identify areas in which you’d like to expand your knowledge of sexuality and your own body (your learning objective) and which tools can support you in this.

By focussing on mindfulness, communication, and agency you will learn to listen to your body and create a vocabulary for your desires and boundaries.

Touch and Boundaries

Touch is one of the tools we can use to increase body awareness. Being touched by another human being can be, in the right context, profoundly healing. Touch, sexual or not, is a basic need. Halted development and even death can be seen in babies who are not cuddled and held. Adults can become touch starved too, as all too many did during the Covid pandemic.

During sessions touch can be a powerful mechanism of enhancing somatic learning. My sessions are client-led and geared towards increasing a sense of agency. Therefore, no touch will happen if there is no mutual agreement or if it does not serve an educational purpose. Sessions can be entirely free of touch and choosing not to engage in touch can be equally powerful as any form of touch can be.

Whom for

Individuals, couples, or groups in non-monogamous relationship constellations who could use some help with their sexual life or who simply wish to expand their sexual development. Navigating sexuality isn’t always easy. Quality sex education from school, caregivers, and society as a whole can be thoroughly inadequate. Most people experience some crisis, sense of stuckness, or low point around their sexuality at some point in their life, sometimes leading people to stop having sex altogether or resigning themselves to an unsatisfying sex life. The causes can be manifold: pain or trauma after child birth, trouble orgasming, illness or physical disability, erectile dysfunction, medication lowering libido or affecting sexual responsiveness, premature ejaculation, past traumatic experiences, low self esteem, relationship problems, grief, effects of aging, stress, and the list goes on and on. Whatever is affecting your life and your body is also likely to affect your sexuality. But that doesn’t mean you have to keep staying stuck. In fact, healing, expanding, and becoming more in tune with your sexuality is also likely to have positive effects on other areas of your life.

Who Am I

My name is Myrte Hamburg and my background is in psychology. I am a certified sexological bodyworker. I have a research master in social psychology and have worked as a university researcher in clinical child and family studies for many years. Meanwhile the field of sexuality has always interested me and I have followed many workshops and trainings on sexual diversity, sexual practices, BDSM, consent, tantra, consensual non-monogamy over the years. Meanwhile I started noticing just how cut off from my body I felt in my work as a researcher. I was working long hours behind a computer, had endless meetings with people I felt no connection to, and was never free of a stressful deadline. I became more and more disconnected and started to realize that what I wanted was a more embodied approach to my work and my life. After following the professional training in somatic sex education at the Sea School of Embodiment and becoming certified as a sexological bodyworker I decided to move away from the research track and dedicate myself entirely to my sex coaching practice.
